When Angela Uyeda comes home from work, she doesn’t gripe about paperwork.

She doesn’t lament the gossiping co-workers by the water cooler or complain her eyes are sore from staring at a computer screen for eight hours.

Instead, she recounts tales of being thrown through walls, jumping over 12-foot fences after being chased by rottweilers or setting herself on fire.

The Vancouver-based professional stunt woman, originally from Kamloops, was acknowledged for being among the best stunt people in the movie industry at the 2007 Taurus World Stunt Awards in Hollywood last month.

Uyeda was nominated in two categories at the awards, hosted by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

She was nominated for Best Fight for a scene she performed with Lani Gelera and Crystal Damian in X-Men: The Last Stand, and was up against scenes from films like Pirates of the Caribbean and Casino Royale.
